On April 16, Vien Dong College was honored to receive a decision from the Minister of Education and Training awarding the Certificate of Merit in recognition of its outstanding achievements in supporting student entrepreneurship during the period from 2017 to 2025.

Among the notable accomplishments highlighted in the commendation decision is the tireless dedication of both faculty and students in scientific research and innovative activities. A standout example is the “DefiMaps – Interactive Position Mapping Application” project, developed by the Information Technology Department in collaboration with a student team.

The DefiMaps application enables users to accurately locate their position in public spaces such as hospitals, shopping centers, and entertainment areas, with a margin of error of only 1–6 meters. The project impressively won Second Prize at the 2022 GDNN Student Startup Idea Contest – Startup Kite, organized by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. This is not only a proud achievement but also a clear testament to the creativity, technological competence, and entrepreneurial spirit of Vien Dong students in the digital era.

Moreover, after winning Second Prize, the DefiMaps project successfully raised over 2 billion VND from investors, opening up significant opportunities for the student team to continue improving the product, expanding its features, and moving toward commercialization.

Building on the success of the DefiMaps project, the Information Technology Department and students have since 2022 continued to develop the Viendong App (Viendong.edu) for teachers and students. The app now boasts a usage rate of over 90%.

The Viendong App will be officially showcased at 3:00 PM on April 19, 2025, during the Startup Event organized by the Ministry of Education and Training at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.

These achievements are not only a source of pride for Vien Dong College’s faculty and students but also a vivid demonstration of the effectiveness of practice-oriented education. They serve to inspire innovation and creativity in every student. With a strategic focus on learner-centered education, the college will continue to accompany, support, and promote student startup ideas, contributing to the development of a confident, resilient, and adaptable young workforce for the era of Industry 4.0.
